Cybet Stories: Novak Djokovic

By cy.Reporter, 14 January, 2022

CyNews catches the racket and discovers the life of one of the most important tennis players of all time. An athlete where in the last few days he has been in the limelight, perhaps without seeking it, as has happened all his life. An anti-star for whom his faith in God is above all his distinctions, from both everyone learned his name. The reason for Novak Djokovic!

May 22, 1987. Dijana Djokovic and Srdjan Djokovic bring to life Novak Djokovic. Novak Djokovic's father was a businessman, as he owned the restaurant chain, while he was active in sports, having a raw tennis. Thus, it was easy for little Nole to get acquainted with the sport of tennis from an early age and to start showing his talent early on.

He started competing in sports camps and was discovered there by Jelena Gensic. "This is the greatest talent I have ever seen," she said. So, it was not long before Novak Djokovic started his journey on the tennis court. However, a few years later, the war in the former Yugoslavia and NATO bombings were perhaps the most important first fight for little Novak, who struggled to defend himself every night from NATO bombs.

However, Djokovic did not give up and showed that from a young age he had the title of champion. Year after year his improvement was unique, with the result that everyone realized that the young Djokovic had to leave his country to be abroad and improve even more. So in September 1999 at the age of 12 he found himself in Germany where he lived for the next four years.

At the age of 14, Novak Djokovic made his debut in 2001, winning the European Championships in both singles and doubles. However, the first time the spotlight fell on him was in 2007 when he won his first "Master Series" and was in the top 10 of the World Rankings. In the Roger Cup, he defeated the top three tennis players in the world, Andy Rodding, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, and showed in the best way that he came to stay.

In 2011, Djokovic established himself on the world tennis scene, reaching 43 consecutive victories and becoming the only tennis player in the history of the sport who could remain undefeated in so many matches. Thus, winning the same season the Australian Open, the American, as well as Wimbledon, was at the top of the world, being the number one in the World rankings. Thus, he reached 30 Grand Slam finals in his career, of which he won 20, in the Masters series he reached 20 finals and celebrated the victory in 11 of them, while he also won the bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics. However, next to him, apart from his family, he has his partner Jelena Ristic, with whom he was a classmate at the sports school where they met. In 2013 they got engaged and in 2014 they got married and in the same year their son Stefan was born and in 2017 Tara.

Novak Djokovic can be described as the ultimate anti-star for the modern era. His simple life, despite the fame he has gained, shows that his experiences and the difficult moments he went through as a child, may have influenced his view of the modern world. As he states about his successes in tennis: "My faith in Christ is over 70 titles that I have won since the beginning of my career." The Serbian tennis player has set up an institution named after him and is helping his compatriots in Serbia. It has renovated schools, churches, assisted in the medical care of young Serbs, and provided assistance to several countries whenever needed.

Novak Djokovic from the first day he caught a racket showed that he is destined to be at the top of the sports world. However, his experiences and faith, perhaps, were the best guide to be at the top and stay where few other athletes have managed in individual sports and create his own legend by simply doing what he knows. To hold the racket and believe that everything is possible!
